A note from your President.

Hope you enjoyed your summer break and that you were able to rest, travel to new places and enjoy time away with family and friends. For many of you, it's time for new beginnings, from starting or returning to school, new jobs, relationships, homes and more. Prospanica DC is here to help you continue on your journey to developing yourself personally and professionally. Prospanica DC focuses on celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15). This year’s theme: “Shaping the bright future of America,” embodies the ideal that Hispanics shape the bright future of America through our contributions to all aspects of America’s daily life and national endeavors. Whether it be defending our nation or exploring the universe, conducting scientific research or providing services, in the government, in the arts, in community leadership, finance, sports, or in any other activity, Hispanics enrich the fabric of America to make it brighter and stronger. Have fun celebrating!
Sandra Rivera, MBA

For the first time, Prospanica and NBMBAA came together in a strategic partnership to keep with our commitment to create opportunities for diverse business professionals and deliver maximum value to corporate partners, in these changing economic times.

For many years after I moved here, I told folks I was the poster child for Prospanica. When we moved here in 1999, my wife found a job first. A few weeks later I attended a Prospanica event, met a recruiter, and was on my way to a great job at AARP. I began to get more involved, started providing office space for board meetings and participated in the chapter corporate advisory board. In 2003 I received the National Brillante Member Award, and started my DC Hispanic Employee Network group which still continues to help folks across the DMV.

On January 24, 2017 Prospanica and the National Science Foundation (NSF) finalized an MOU. The NSF has actively participated in Prospanica D.C. Chapter events. The NSF is the only federal agency whose mission includes support for all fields of fundamental science and engineering, except for medical sciences. As an exemplary government agency, the NSF ensures that research is fully integrated with education so that today's revolutionary work will also be training tomorrow's top scientists and engineers. With this agreement NSF will enhance its collaboration with Prospanica to make sure talented and qualified prospect are aware of opportunities at their agency. Be on the lookout for a future event commemorating this agreement.
