Faculty Bios

Shahram Amini - Shahram Amini, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business. His areas of research include product market structure and managerial incentives, corporate actions and subsequent market reaction, IPO markets, market efficiency, and financial econometrics. Professor Amini has taught several courses including Investments, Financial Concepts & Skills, and International Finance, for which he has received Teaching Excellence awards. In his free time, Shahram enjoys exploring the beautiful Mile High City, playing sports, outdoor activities, traveling and cooking.


Amanda Cahal - Amanda Cahal is an adjunct faculty member as well as the Director of Global Programs for the Executive and Professional MBA Programs. She is the primary ‘lead’ for the EMBA international trip and co-teaches the Global Business course. Cahal also teaches in a variety of corporate programs, focusing on intercultural competence, global business, and emotional intelligence. She is certified in the Insights Discovery System, the Intercultural Development Inventory and Thunderbird’s Global Mindset. Corporate clients have included Newmont Mining, Anadarko, CenturyLink, Crocs and Level 3. Prior to joining Daniels, Cahal worked in international development for The Carter Center, observing elections in Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Her work in development as well as education has taken her to Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America. She has her Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and also studied at Keble College, The University of Oxford.

Dr. Rosanna Garcia is associate professor of marketing and Walter Koch Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship at the University of Denver in Colorado. Her research is in entrepreneurship and benefit corporations. She previously held the position of Chancellor’s Faculty of Excellence in Innovation + Design at North Carolina State University from 2014-2017. She was also an associate professor of Marketing in the Poole College of Management and was the college’s faculty director of the Business Sustainability Collaborative. In 2015, she co-founded the NC State Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) to support women in their journey as business owners. Dr. Garcia holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Rochester. She earned a BS in chemical engineering and a BA in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is also CEO and co-founder of Vijilent, a company that uses artificial intelligence to mine social media for the legal and insurance industries.

George Gerchow - As Sumo Logic's Chief Security Officer, George Gerchow brings over 20 years of information technology and systems management expertise to the application of IT processes and disciplines. His background includes the security, compliance, and cloud computing disciplines. Mr. Gerchow has years of practical experience in building agile security, compliance and, purple teams in rapid development organizations. These insights make him a highly regarded speaker, and invited panelist on topics including DevSecOps, cloud secure architecture design, virtualization, compliance, configuration management, and operational security and compliance. George has been on the bleeding edge of public cloud security and privacy since being a co-founder of the VMware Center for Policy & Compliance. Mr. Gerchow is also an active Board Member for several technology start-ups and the co-author of the Center for Internet Security - Quick Start Cloud Infrastructure Benchmark v1.0.0 and the MISTI Fundamentals in Cloud Security. Joe has many years of experience in senior leadership positions where he ran large organizations to deliver next-generation technology solutions. Before founding Lionshare Negotiations, LLC, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Lead Negotiator for Intrado where he negotiated billions of dollars in high margin deals. He has worked for some of the most powerful corporations in the world including IBM and Xerox. In fact, at IBM, he was awarded their most prestigious sales honor as the number one ranked salesperson in the United States. In every position, he has consistently exceeded objectives by being an expert negotiator.

Joe is in demand as a lead consultant on high-value deals for clients worldwide, and his training programs and keynotes are intriguing, insightful, and eye-opening.

David Morelli is Executive Director for Executive Education at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver. Previously, David was the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Talent Development at PaySimple/EverCommerce, a Denver-based financial technology company. In his time there, he’s helped create the strategy on which they raised $315 million from a world-renowned private equity firm and multiply their valuation twenty-fold.

David has expertise in a wide range of arenas from executive coaching to neuroscience and from executive leadership to peak performance. He has over 20 years of executive coaching and leadership development experience, has trained thousands in coaching methodologies, and has led worldwide programs with over 100,000 participants. Additionally, he is the creator and host of a popular podcast, Enwaken Radio, which has over 1 million subscribers and passed Oprah to hit #1 in two categories on iTunes. David holds an Executive MBA from the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.
