Update, March 9th, from Thomas Savino, Prospanica CEO:

Good evening, everyone,

I am saddened to write that we will not host the Leadership Summit this week in Dallas.  Like all of you, we’ve watched the events unfold around the world and across the nation.  I said in my last email that your safety is our primary concern.  As the confirmed cases of COVID-19 have increased over the weekend, and as we’ve had the first case confirmed in our own backyard, we no longer believe we can ask you to leave your families to join us in Dallas.

We have been looking forward to the 2020 Leadership Summit with great anticipation.  Each year, the Summit offers a moment to gather our familia together.  We pause to reconnect with each other and engage with the concepts that sharpen our appetites and abilities to lead.

We miss already the time we would have spent with you.  As our familia, your safety is our concern, but so is your continued development.  We built this event around developing nuestras voces—our voices—and it is our mission to prepare you to speak with authority.  We will communicate soon how we will deliver this event’s content.

Please know that you will be refunded your registration fees.  We will reach out soon with pertinent details regarding that.

Thank you for your patience, and thank you for your understanding.  Prospanica exists to empower and enable Hispanic professionals to achieve their full educational, economic, and social potential.  We will deliver on that mission, regardless of whether we’re gathering in Dallas or elsewhere.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Original Event Text

The professional landscape remains everchanging, but prepared professionals can create possibility within that uncertainty.  Prospanica invites Latinx professionals to gather together to learn from each other and from experts who push leaders toward authenticity, relevance, and impact.

Over three days, the 2020 Leadership Summit provides purposeful reflection and culturally-relevant leadership development.  Through breakout sessions and workshops, we will explore our experiences, our voices, and how to leverage our authentic selves to drive change in our companies and our communities.

Participants can earn a Certificate of Leadership Communication issued in partnership with the University of Dallas.  This certificate will be earned through attending the sessions The Neuroscience of Leadership and Use Your Voice: Exercising Your Agency in a Difficult World, part 1 & 2.

We want to assure our attendees and partners that we are closely monitoring the local situation surrounding COVID-19.  The safety of attendees, sponsors, partners, national board, chapter officers, and headquarters staff remains our top priority.

As of now, we have no plans to cancel or postpone the event.

We will continue to monitor the developments locally and nationally.  As we do so, we confer with our event partners and follow information from Dallas County Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, and Visit Irving.

As the situation develops, we will post updates here and will connect with attendees and partners through email.  Should you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at events@prospanica.org.
